About

Who runs this site?

Gavin Whenman is a law student, writer, fan of alliteration and Liberal Democrat, although not necessarily in that order. In June he will be joining Total Politics, a new monthly political magazine.

He is currently studying for an LLM in Public International Law at King’s College London. Until last year, he worked for 18 Doughty Street, a sadly now defunct political internet TV channel (although its successor, Politics Home, has now launched). He also runs the Realpolitik podcast with his good friend, Richard Holloway, which takes a weekly look at the UK political scene, offering comment and analysis from both liberal and conservative perspectives.

He has had the pleasure of being ranted about on BBC Radio Five Live, editing (and leaving) a newspaper and meeting Boris Johnson. Some consider him vociferous, others like to think of him as their favourite Lib Dem.

He can be contacted at gavin AT gavinwhenman DOT com (sophisticated spam-blocking technique in operation).

Gavin is now worn out from referring to himself in the third person.

What is FFS It’s Monday / Politalks?

FFS It’s Monday was a regular column (published, strangely enough, on Mondays) that took a misanthropic, sideways glance at the week in politics (or whatever else caught my eye). It was not intended to be taken necessarily as my view on anything. Similarly, Politalks is a series of Youtube videos in collaboration with Lee Griffin that rounds-up the previous week’s news with a satirical twist and doesn’t necessarily follow exactly our views, but is what we would consider funny.

Comments Policy

Comments, positive or negative, anonymous or otherwise, are welcome, but please don’t pretend to be something you’re not (i.e. a Lib Dem supporter when you’re a Labour/Tory member), as I reserve the right to amend your name accordingly. First-time commenters will be moderated (this is just to stop spam, which I get annoyingly frequently), but future comments will go up straight away if you’re approved.

What powers this site?

GavinWhenman.com is hosted by Dreamhost and the content management software is Wordpress. The theme is adapted from Cutline by Chris Pearson. Plugins are Podpress, MyBlogLog widget, Lib Dem buttons, Share This, Creative Commons license widget, Adsense Manager and finally WP-PostRatings. More details can be found here.
