Follow-ups to three things I’ve written about recently:
-
The gambler who sued William Hill for letting him gamble has lost his case in the High Court. Briggs J found that William Hill did not owe Mr Calvert, a compulsive gambler, a duty of care. And quite right too.
-
After Peter Goldsmith’s proposal that school-leavers should have to take an oath of allegiance to Queen and country, one sprightly soul has put up a petition on the PM’s website calling for Gordon Brown to reject the former Attorney-General’s sage advice. Petitions need at least 200 signatures in order to elicit a response from the Prime Minister, and there are only 140 signatures so far, so sign it now. (Hat-tip: Adam Teladia)
-
Darrell Goodliffe has an article on Lib Dem Voice calling for an international movement for peace as a part of an effort to resolve the Israel / Palestine conflict, echoing something I suggested for within the Lib Dems.
