This blog has been up and running on this Wordpress-powered site for 10 days now, which seems a significant, although in reality totally arbitrary, milestone at which to mark the occasion by revealing the plugins, theme and hosting package responsible for the glorious visual fest which you are currently viewing on your screen. The people mentioned here might be considered the unthanked heroes of the blogging revolution, were it not for the fact that they are no doubt thanked every day on various sites around the internet globe, as we share in the linky goodness. In no particular order:
-
Hosting: Dreamhost, on their very reasonable $10.95 a month hosting package (with $49.95 set up fee in the first month), which provides far more bandwidth than I could ever possibly use.
-
Theme: Adapted from Cutline by Chris Pearson, the main changes I’ve made are to the left-hand sidebar and the header image.
Plugins:
-
Podpress, which powers the Realpolitik podcast posting.
-
Gregarious, by Ankur Kothari. This provides the “Share This” social bookmark links you see at the bottom of every post.
-
Creative Commons license widget. Hat-tip to James Graham for drawing my attention to this one.
-
Adsense Manager by Martin Fitzpatrick, because I’ve got to pay for the hosting package somehow.
-
WP-PostRatings by Lester Chan, becuase I’m kind of interested in seeing what’s liked and what isn’t on the blog. Hat-tip (again) to James Graham.
